GTA San Andreas Missions

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is one of the most popular games Rockstar has ever made. You play as Carl “CJ” Johnson, who comes back to Los Santos after years away. The story takes you through GTA San Andreas missions, gang battles, big heists, crazy side missions, and an action-packed finale that fans still talk about today.

In total, GTA San Andreas has 101 missions. Out of these, 80 are story missions that move the main plot forward, and 21 are side or asset missions you can do for extra rewards and 100% game completion. On this page, you’ll find a complete GTA San Andreas Missions list with the mission names, who gives them, where they happen, and what you get for finishing them. We’ve organized everything by chapter and location, so you can easily follow along whether you’re just starting in Los Santos or finishing the last mission back in the city.

The main story in GTA San Andreas is split into different chapters. CJ starts in Los Santos, then moves through the countryside, San Fierro, the desert, and Las Venturas, before returning to Los Santos for the big finale.

There are 80 story missions in total, and each group is tied to the area you’re in and the characters you meet. Below, you’ll find tables for every chapter showing the mission name, who gives it, where it takes place, what rewards you get, and a quick note about it.

These missions are where the game begins. CJ reunites with Grove Street and helps rebuild the gang while dealing with early betrayals and gang wars.

Not all missions in San Andreas are part of the main story. There are also 21 side and asset missions you can complete if you want 100% game completion. These include RC challenges, trucking jobs, quarry work, and even stadium events. They don’t change the main storyline, but they’re great for extra rewards, cash, and bragging rights.

Not every GTA San Andreas mission is the same. Some are quick and fun, while others will test your patience. A few have become legendary because players still talk about them years later. Here are the ones that stand out the most.

 Wrong Side of the Tracks

This mission is burned into every player’s memory. You’re riding a bike with Big Smoke, chasing enemies on top of a moving train. It should be simple, but Big Smoke can’t hit a single shot. Most of us failed it more than once, and that gave us the famous line: “All you had to do was follow the damn train, CJ!” It’s frustrating, funny, and iconic.

 Supply Lines…

If you’ve played Zero’s RC missions, you know the pain. In Supply Lines, you’re flying a tiny RC plane with barely enough fuel to finish the job. You have to destroy delivery vans while fighting the controls and watching the clock. For many players, this was the hardest mission in the whole game. Beating it felt like finally climbing a mountain.

 End of the Line

This is the final showdown, and Rockstar made sure it wasn’t easy. The mission has three big parts: clearing Big Smoke’s fortress, taking him down in an emotional boss fight, and chasing Officer Tenpenny through a city on fire with riots. It’s tough, it’s long, and it’s the perfect ending. Finishing it feels like a true achievement.

There are 101 missions in total 80 story missions and 21 side/asset missions needed for 100% completion.

Mission #70 is “Up, Up and Away!”, where CJ steals an armored helicopter for the casino heist setup.

To beat the game, finish the 80 main story missions. If you want 100% completion, you’ll also need to do side missions, collectables (tags, oysters, snapshots, horseshoes), and challenges.

Most players say Supply Lines… (the RC plane mission) is the hardest, though some also point to Wrong Side of the Tracks and Learning to Fly as frustrating.

In GTA: Vice City, you need to finish all story missions, side missions, asset properties, rampages, hidden packages, and street races. It’s similar to San Andreas but with fewer missions overall.

On average, it takes around 80–100 hours to get 100% completion, depending on skill, whether you use guides, and how much time you spend on side content.

In San Andreas, the hardest heist is usually considered Breaking the Bank at Caligula’s because of its length and setup. In the broader GTA series, many fans also mention The Big Score (GTA V) as one of the toughest heists.

The missions in GTA San Andreas are what make the game so memorable. From simple gang jobs in Los Santos to the huge casino heist in Las Venturas and the explosive showdown back in the city, every mission adds depth and variety to the story, keeping players hooked and engaged.

This page provides a comprehensive, structured mission list, so whether you’re replaying the game, pursuing 100% completion, or simply looking up a specific mission, you have everything in one place.
